Let me start out by saying that I believe that there is total and complete recovery from addiction. I do not believe the saying that once an addict always an addict. I have been addiction free for 28 years. Unfortunately, my Addiction Recovery did not come from experiencing a program. My family was not aware of the Post Acute Withdrawal Syndrome available to us during my addiction. For me it finally came down to a choice. I had to chose between my marriage or my addiction. Fortunately, I was in a place where I made the correct choice and choose my marriage. It took along time and a lot of work to overcome my addiction.
Locating the root cause for my addiction was key (and took the longest) but, after the root issue was discovered I began my Addiction Recovery. Like a lot of addicts I began out smoking pot and progressed from there until I was doing my drug associated with preference daily at the expense of everything and everyone around me. I lost precious time with my oldest daughter and many years of a meaningful relationship with my family. On your addiction you don’t have friends, you may have your partying buddies so when an emergency comes up in your life they may be no where that can be found. Real friends walk with you through everything. My addiction included alcohol along with drugs and i also drank almost everyday. From the time I made the selection to stop the addiction cycle within my life, it became one step at the same time plus it was hard.
When I began coming from my addictive lifestyle what I found in its wake was plenty of fear and insecurities within myself, broken relationships without any real idea what I would do with the remainder of my entire life. I truly began one step at the same time then one day at the same time. During my recovery my brother was killed in a motorcycle accident and through that grieving process occurs when I chose to enable God in to assist me to. It took several years but healing came, direction for my well being came and my marriage flourished. I completed Secondary School, graduated from College and also have started my very own business, which now includes a business that enables me to work at home through a blogging service.
Addiction Recovery Is Achievable. When the root cause of the addiction is identified and worked through in that case your main reason for the addiction is not a factor. For many who remain addicts throughout their lives it is because they have not identified their real cause, are not prepared to go through their issues and allow healing to occur. Many wish to remain a victim of their circumstance, not realizing exactly what the future would hold on their behalf should they would rid yourself of their victim mentality. Constructing a relationship with God was key for my recovery, it is through that relationship that true healing happened.
My wish for drugs and alcohol is totally gone. Through building a relationship with God my self worth was restored, relationships were restored and i also discovered feelings of purpose for my entire life. Through my recovery I gained the skill set needed to become a better wife, mother, friend and employee ( which now has become a business proprietor). My way to recovery may have taken a significantly different route whenever we had known regarding the programs around to us. Programs for addiction recovery are valuable tools, not just in the addicts but to there families also.
Addiction Recovery and Programs. Although I ultimately gained freedom from my addictions a treatment program for addiction recovery could have been a great help to me. Programs offer support systems, counseling, aide in identifying your triggers. Programs offer tools that can be used throughout your lifestyle for several situations that you will face. Programs also offer you the ability to get out of your familiar surroundings which aides in your process of healing. After a long period of addiction recovery I began vxktfb for Teen Challenge which is a faith-based addiction recovery program:.
First being a Development Director then being a Program Director. While this is an excellent program there were some additional steps which i wanted to offer those seeking help, so my partner and I opened our personal recovery program and for a few years we welcomed those seeking help into our home. They lived with us for approximately per year and that we worked with them step-by-step, it was probably the most rewarding experience We have ever had within my life.
We closed this program because we knew it was time to maneuver in a different direction with this lives, but we have been always contacting those searching for help themselves or a family member trying to find help for starters which they love. I am about to start doing some volunteer make use of a program in our area. Attempting to help addicts overcome their addiction is very rewarding work and it is a thing that I will be part of throughout my well being in one way or another. If you or someone in your loved ones are experiencing addiction, research recovery programs and you will find the right fit for you personally. Allow yourselves to heal, allow yourself addiction recovery and also to lead a fulfilling life.
